1.5 Wedding Day

"Ok, big day."

Laurent looked at himself in the mirror. Sure he was nervous and giddy but he was more certain than ever that it was the right thing to do. He loved Adaleigh, he believed in her dream.

He smiled at himself. "Today is the day." and he walked out to wait for Adaleigh by the alter.

Adaleigh on the other hand was anything but nervous. She felt beautiful, she felt confident. She could not believe that today was the day. Today she would marry a man who believed wholeheartedly in the legacy she was beginning. Today she would take another step forward in ensuring that Newcrest would have a new Mayor that would shape the world they had begun.

"Okay, maybe that was a little much... but I am excited." she smiled at herself in the mirror.

And I look fabulous.

Walking confidently out of the house, she joined Laurent by the alter.

"You look absolutely stunning."

"Thank you, Mr. Collins." she smiled at him. How was he so perfect?

"Soon to be Mr. McGinnis."

"Are you really sure that you want to take my name? I mean you could just--"

Adaleigh stopped as Laurent took the ring from his pocket and he slipped it onto her finger.

"I have never been more sure of something in my entire life. Mayor McGinnis." he said matter-of-factly.

And with that, they were married. Mayor and Mr. McGinnis.

Even though the only one who deigned to sit was Summer, the couple were completely oblivious. Next it was time to cut the cake.

Adaleigh cut the cake and spontaneously Eliza Pancakes burst into song. Apparently she wasn't much of a socializer but she adored singing in public?

"Uh.... Eliza, you do know that this is wedding cake don't you?"

Eliza keeps singing obliviously.

"Well, I guess thank you for the thought."

Once all the guests had gone home, Laurent and Adaleigh went inside their house. Of course... the sink was broken.

Adaleigh had gone to laid down while Laurent had said good bye to their wedding guests. So of course it was up to him to fix the sink. "Welcome to married life."

Rolling up his sleeves, he started repairing the sink. Half soaked, and completely exhausted Laurent thought about the nice bed waiting for him.

"Hey, Mr. McGinnis...."

Then he looked up at Adaleigh standing in the doorway waiting for him and all thoughts of sleep fled his mind.

"Hey there, Mayor McGinnis."
