1.1 Mayor McGinnis

With crime on the increase and economic downfall creating dangerous situations in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs, the powers that be in Simsville decided to expand into a new suburb just outside Willow Creek. The hope was to build a new place and bring in new businesses and Sims to recover the economy and boost the moral. In particular, they were looking for someone to begin the process of building on the vacant lots.

Meet Adaleigh McGinnis, Mayor of Newcrest, Creative, Romantic and Loves the Outdoors.

Adaleigh McGinnis was one of the first applicants, and with her Botany background and love of the outdoors she was immediately selected. In particular, it was her presentation about the need for public spaces to create good community moral that really won them over. As such, Ms. McGinnis was tasked with the creation of the Newcrest Park and overseeing all future development as the Mayor of Newcrest.

Unfortunately, there was lack of communication on what her new job title entailed. Living on the lot, which would become the park made sense economically but when that lot only housed a few trees and bushes it was somewhat lacking. Armed with only a few seeds, purchased with last little bit of her money, a old twin bed and no income as she left her job behind, Adaleigh quickly realized her new home was lacking a bath and a toilet….

Thankfully, sleeping under the stars was no imposition. The plumbing for the new public toilet had also been installed but there was no building. She immediately called Simsville and they agreed to send someone to install a toilet. But the lack of privacy was a bit disconcerting. First order of business, collect some things and build a public toilet space.

While foraging among the empty lots, Adaleigh came across many locals wandering in to assess the new neighborhood. It seemed to be the thing to do, bring some food to cook in the partially set up picnic area and then wander around. Vivienne Lewis and Eliza Pancakes, were some of the first to say hello and of course to ask her what the plans were. But at least they offered her some food.

"I think a park is a lovely idea, dear. My momma always said the best thing to do is be outdoors, live a little. Don't you agree, Eliza?" Vivienne Lewis, in particular, was a favorite of hers to converse with.

The older woman had a lot of fun witicisms and seemed to find Adaleigh's park endeavors entertaining. Eliza, on the other hand, really just seemed to want to eat her burger in peace. Of course their interest in the new neighborhood did not seem to extend to cleaning up after themselves. As the new Mayor, Adaleigh found herself cleaning up a lot of trash at the end of the day.

And then returning to her lot, to garden well into the night. Sometimes, she was too exhausted to even make it to her twin bed. Still the garden was growing nicely and Adaleigh began to plan what her Newcrest Park & Gardens would be.

Her hardwork soon paid off. With funds from foraging, fishing and her garden she scrapped together the funds to build a proper public restroom. It even housed a shower for herself so that she could wash off all the grime from all the gardening and meet locals without any commentary on her odd hygene. Of course, once the building was built she went straight to beautifying with flowers harvested from the local area.

She then turned her sites to building an structure she planned to convert into a greenhouse but that would first serve as her temporary housing. I wasn't much but it housed a small bed, a bookshelf to store some reading material to serve as entertainment and was better then sleeping under an oak tree.

Yes, the Newcrest Park and Gardens, was beginning to come to life, just as Adaleigh had hoped. But she found that while her daily lunches with interested locals were envigorating, she wished that someone else might share her passion. After all, a single park would not Newcrest Build.
